Anjel Burgess Recognized by Super Lawyers® for the 9th Consecutive Year

We are pleased to report that the legal organization Super Lawyers has once again ranked our Managing Attorney, Anjel F. Burgess, among the top in the state of Georgia. Anjel has been selected to the Super Lawyers List every year since 2019. For three years prior, Super Lawyers named her to their Rising Stars list. The Rising Stars list recognizes attorneys in the earlier stages of their careers while the Super Lawyers list includes attorneys who have established a reputation for excellence among peers and clients.

“I’m honored to be included on this prestigious list again,” Anjel noted. “And I’m grateful to my clients and peers for their support. The outstanding cooperation I receive from my clients is one of the most important reasons we can achieve such successful results.”

What is Super Lawyers?

Super Lawyers is a legal evaluation organization created to provide a resource for individuals and companies seeking attorneys with particular experience levels. The organization produces lists recognizing the top attorneys in various practice areas in different geographic locations.

Super Lawyers has published their listings in print and online editions for over three decades. Over time, the organization has continued to refine its selection process to the point where they were awarded a patent for the method used to recognize top attorneys.

How are Attorneys Selected for the Super Lawyers List?

The Super Lawyers evaluation team uses a multi-phase process to choose top attorneys in different practice areas. This process begins annually when attorneys in each state are invited to nominate lawyers they have observed demonstrating excellence in practice. Attorneys may not nominate themselves or campaign for nomination. While attorneys may nominate others from their firm, those nominations receive a lower point value.

Super Lawyers uses a system to track nominations closely to ensure that attorneys are not “gaming” the system with reciprocal nominations. Although clients and others may not formally nominate an attorney for inclusion, they may make an informal nomination, which is evaluated by the research team at Super Lawyers for possible inclusion.

After the candidates are nominated, the research department at Super Lawyers conducts independent research to evaluate nominees on twelve indicators of achievement, excellence, and peer recognition. These factors include:

  • Significant settlements and verdicts achieved for clients
  • Targeted experience
  • Scholarly lectures, writings, and reputation
  • Successful transactions and clients served
  • Special certifications and licenses
  • Service to the community
  • Education and employment background
  • Leadership within the firm and the legal community

When this evaluation is complete, the candidates with the highest point totals are evaluated by a “blue ribbon” panel of their peers. The panel rates each candidate based on the research results and reputation, and the top-rated attorneys are selected for the Super Lawyers lists.

Commitment to Excellence

“I think this award reflects our commitment to excellence and achieving the best for our clients,” Anjel explained. “Their needs are so important to us; I think that shows in everything we do. While I am happy to receive recognition, obtaining the results my clients deserve matters more to me.”
