Casey Watts

Attorney Casey Watts knew she wanted a career helping people long before she became an attorney. Originally from the Portland, Oregon area, Casey earned her undergraduate degree in teaching because of her passion for mentoring, guiding, and supporting others. Before joining the firm, Casey admits most of her ideas about attorneys came from television—fast-talking, overly aggressive lawyers who always seemed more interested in winning than helping people. Everything changed when she started working at Burgess and Christensen as a Hearing Case Manager before law school.

Working alongside Attorneys Larry Christensen and Anjel Burgess showed Casey that disability law was different. It could be deeply personal and meaningful work. As Larry often said, disability attorneys are “like social workers with law degrees,” and that philosophy immediately resonated with her. Casey loves building relationships with clients, helping them navigate difficult situations, and making a tangible difference in her clients’ lives.

Although Casey explored government law positions during law school because of her interest in history and political science, she ultimately found herself drawn back to disability law and client advocacy. She enjoys the personal connection that comes with working directly with clients, helping people through difficult seasons of life, and advocating for the benefits they worked hard for and deserve.

Today, Casey focuses on guiding clients through every stage of the disability and guardianship process with compassion, organization, and attention to detail. She enjoys helping clients feel prepared for hearings, digging into complex medical records, and researching challenging legal issues to find solutions that strengthen her clients’ cases. Clients often appreciate her calming and reassuring approach during what can be an overwhelming process.

Outside the office, Casey enjoys traveling with her family and friends and always makes a point to visit zoos and aquariums because of her love for animals. She also enjoys researching family history, spending time with her church community, drinking Diet Coke, and binging reality TV with friends. Casey lives in her own personal zoo with her husband, daughter, two dogs, two cats, and rabbit.
